Sister's Inn Fusion Glass

Fused Glass

Definition:

Fused glass is a method of fusing layers of glass to create a piece of art. The layers or pieces of glass has to have the same coefficient.

Fused glass pieces are kiln fired. Some of the different types of art pieces that I create are: vases, plates, platters, and bowls; all in varied sizes. I also make custom molds for specialized pieces. Items can be made from translucent or opaque glass. Each piece is comprised of at least two layers of glass and goes through a minimum of two firings, one for fusing and one for slumping. Sometimes a third fire, a polish firing is required, depending on the finishing technique. For some of my free form pieces I use only one layer of glass, these pieces are more fragile by nature.
