Functional Art
Functional art is just what it sounds like, a piece of art that has a function. The easiest examples of this would be a bowl, a plate, a vase, etc. But not just functional and plain and boring-with style and creativity so the pieces can serve both functionally and beautifully!
Functional art pieces can be a single layer of glass that is draped, like a free form vase, to multi layered pieces like plates or bowl. The pieces that are not free form go through at least two firings, one to fused the layers of glass into one and then one to slump or drape the single thick sheet into a shape. If you are using unique finishing techniques further firings may be necessary.
