Fused Glass Creation Process
The layers of glass are cut, ground, cleaned and put together to create the piece. It is then heated in increments to 1550◦ in a glass kiln. The piece is then cooled to 1000◦ quickly and annealed at three different temperatures, descending. The piece must slowly return to room temperature. If the process is rushed the piece could shatter suddenly. The entire process takes approximately 15 hours per firing. Each piece goes through 2 firings, one to fuse and one to drape or slump into a shape.
